Group Therapy Programs
Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy where a small group of individuals meet regularly to discuss their personal struggles and offer support to one another. It is a safe and confidential space where participants can share their experiences, gain insights, and learn new coping skills. Group therapy sessions can focus on various topics such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or relationship issues. The group dynamic allows participants to receive multiple perspectives and diverse insights, fostering personal growth and improved interpersonal skills. Group therapy can provide a sense of belonging and reduce feelings of isolation, as individuals realize they are not alone in their experiences.

"Unplugged" is a community growth group held at HealingChoice Family Therapy and is hosted by Britni Henry, MMFT, LMFT Associate, and Barbie Swopes, MFT Graduate Student Intern. This community growth group can help you discover the benefits of being mindful and taking time to be in the quiet. Mindfulness can help reduce stress and anxiety by increasing your ability to regulate your emotions while concentrating on accepting the moment at hand (American Psychological Association, 2019). This results in more flexibility in your day-to-day life, decreasing your daily stressors. In today's fast-paced world filled with so much background noise, we rarely get moments of silence. Silence allows us to process our thoughts and the things going on. Without these moments, our thoughts build up, making the silence louder and more uncomfortable than ever. What if you were okay with your thoughts? What if you could enjoy a car ride without music or a podcast to occupy your mind?
During this 8-week course, we will take a more in-depth look at what mindfulness is and what the benefits are, what gets in the way of being mindful today, and, of course, practice the skill of unplugging from the background noise and being cautious.
